Known for their gritty storytelling and spectacular visuals, American production house, Sweetgrass Productions is set to release their latest feature ski and snowboard film, Valhalla at Nelson’s Capitol Theatre this Wednesday, October 23rd. Having holed up in the Kootenays for the last two years for the making of the film, Valhalla aims to dive into the world of story, using character development and a distinct narrative to transport viewers into the soul of what it means to surrender yourself to the mountains. In our upcoming Winter 13/14 Issue, we feature the producers and their inspiration behind the film, in a story written by Sweetgrass Director, Nick Waggoner. As a tease to that piece, which offers a rare insight into how and why this award winning production house went about making the film, we’ve included the intro page of that article.

If that doesn’t make you want to rush out and buy a ticket for the film’s first premiere in the Kootenays, check out the latest teaser to the film below. For those not able to make the event (which promises to be one of the more important film premieres in the history of the area) the film is available for purchase on iTunes.
