KMC Editor-in-Chief Mitchell Scott and contributing photographer Dave Heath recently spent a week at Mount Carlyle Lodge in the Selkirk Mountains just north of Kaslo, BC. Owned by Brian Cross, aka “Bald Bomber”, a Slocan Valley farmer and Kootenay backcountry lodge owner for over 30 years (Cross is a 50% owner of the iconic Valhalla Mountain Lodge). The trip offered a mix of conditions that saw everything from flurries to sun to a huge wind event, and we were able to travel deep and far, seeing a ton of the incredible terrain that exists in the tenure.
