Ten years ago, Labatt Brewing Company experimented Ten years ago, Labatt Brewing Company experimented with its first feature-length film and based it around the Kokanee beer brand. “The Movie Out Here” was shot in Fernie, and although panned by critics, the company saw it as a success when it increased the market share of its beer by 6%.

And yes, there’s a cameo by Canadian rapper Snow.

Since then, however, the brand’s marketing has languished, perhaps because it’s a miniscule drop in the keg for global mega-corp Anheuser-Busch InBev, which now owns Labatt. For more about Kokanee beer and why there isn’t a Kootenay mountain on its label, visit the link in our bio.

Did you know the jacket worn by @twallisch in 2017 Did you know the jacket worn by @twallisch in 2017's “Imagination,” filmed by @sherpascinema in Nelson, Rossland and Ymir, was featured in an art exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art last winter?

Did you also know the bird mural can still be seen on Gordon St. in Nelson?

JP Auclair would’ve been proud.

We’ve been doing Honest Reviews of gear for year We’ve been doing Honest Reviews of gear for years now and we’ve never doled out a 10/10…until now.

Uber-keen skier and our publisher Peter Moynes (@woodandskiing) recently reviewed a hard shell jacket by @made.outdoor and because it was custom fit to his frame using online tech and he was able to pick and choose the features he wanted on it from pockets to venting, he really liked it. Also, the company’s biz model ensures one jacket is made for one person so there’s never any overages or waste. That’s what clinched its perfect rating.

Remember when we asked for photos of people’s Ko Remember when we asked for photos of people’s Kokanee bottles for the story we did in the recent issue about the brand’s various labels through the decades?

➡️ You can now read that article online via the link in our bio, btw.

This submission is a bit late to the party but we wanted to share it anyway because it’s (liquid) gold.

This commemorative bottle was found by @tannerdstuart in the Nelson. BC home of @lorimckellar. Her husband Brian has been drinking strictly Kokanee for at least 3 decades.

What do you think: should Tanner open it and tell us whether it still tastes good?

Do you have an incredible, true story about something that happened to you or someone you know? If so, email a synopsis of the tale to our editor-in-chief at mitch@mountainculturegroup.com.

Two kudos to @travisrice who made some memorable i Two kudos to @travisrice who made some memorable impressions in Revelstoke recently. First he crushed it at the Natural Selection Tour at @revelstokemtnresort coming in first after dropping a pillow/cliff line that we still can’t fully fathom.

Then he dropped to one knee and proposed to his partner Brook while standing on top of Charity Peak with Virtue Peak in the background, just east of Revy. Of@all the summits in the Selkirks, those two are well chosen for starting your journey of marital bliss.

Congrats on so many levels Travis.

And congrats to Revy for hosting a stellar event. So much snoooooow!
