Sherpas Cinema, the production house behind Imagination, today released the trailer to their latest film, “Children of Columbia: A Skier’s Odyssey.”
The Columbia River is one of the most famous waterways in the world. Since time immemorial it has been the geographic thread that ties the Pacific Northwest together. Over the last century, however, it has gone through a profound transformation, harnessed for resources like power, wood, and minerals. But alongside this industrial development, the Columbia has emerged as an iconic centre for backcountry adventure, home to some of the best skiing in the world.
Join Dane Tudor and Christina Lustenberger, two big mountain skiers who grew up on the shores of the Columbia River, as they travel up the waterway that shaped them. (Ed Note: Watch out for the feature article about Christina Lustenberger in the upcoming Kootenay Mountain Culture magazine due out later this month.) has a From Trail through Revelstoke and on to Kinbasket Lake, through the famed Selkirks, Monashees and Rocky Mountains, Dane and Lusti move northwards through a unique mountain culture. A land of stark and beautiful contrasts, where dams and development give way to wilderness, massive snows, and mountains that never seem to end.
Combining Sherpas Cinema’s beautiful cinematography, with a rare mix of archival footage and narration, and featuring a custom score by UK producer Rival Consoles, Children of the Columbia is a ski adventure, historical documentary, and sensory feast wrapped into one.
Children of the Columbia: A Skier’s Odyssey is presented by CMH Heli Skiing, in association with Scott Sports, Smartwool, and supported by Mica Heli-skiing and Black Crows.
