Ski touring in the first week of April is always a good move. Long days, reliably cold temps, convective flurries, and a deep (usually) stable snowpack makes for a perfect time to go deep into the mountains. Last week, I had the opportunity to pull my pow-crazed 13-year-old out of school and take him to Sol Mountain, a beauty lodge located deep in the Monashees north of Cherryville. Ideally located, and in operation for eight years, owner and lead guide Aaron Cooperman is all about getting his clients into the goods. With a host of wicked terrain features and incredible lines located in all directions from his beautifully comfortable 14-guest lodge, it’s easy to get all wrapped up in spinning laps until your legs fall off. With ski experiences that ranged from waste deep blower to sun-washed steeps, dropping in off a peak to storm-sessioning gullies, cliffs and chutes, my son and I couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate Easter. Thank you Sol Mountain! –Mitchell Scott
