Based in Nelson, British Columbia, the Mountain Culture Group is a collection of publishing outlets that includes Kootenay Mountain Culture and Coast Mountain Culture Magazines, as well as our digital outlet, the mountainculturegroup.com.
The two print publications are published twice a year each, and are distributed for free throughout the Pacific Northwest. Every spring and fall you’ll find our beautifully printed, so-thick-you-can-open-a-beer-with-them magazines at fine retailers and outdoor oriented businesses from Smithers to Portland to Tofino to Calgary.
The Mountain Culture Group is all about inspiring people: to climb, to ski, to ride, to think, to create, to explore the world and themselves. Ultimately, our goal is to motivate readers to interact with mountainous landscapes and their associated cultures. We do this by celebrating, documenting and investigating mountain lifestyle in both the Coast and Kootenay regions, but also abroad. Basically, we focus on our backyards, but branch out into bigger conversations as they relate to ideas of mountain culture. Each one of our issues is themed, for each issue both CMC and KMC share the same theme, but with totally independent content. We have been in the publishing game for well over a decade, and we’ve been loving every second of it.
