Heliskiing is one of those dream like experiences we all wish we could do at some point in our lives. It’s the manifestation of those bird dreams you sometimes have. You know the ones that stare at big, snow caked mountains and go, “if only we could get up there right now, and then over there, and there again…” Well, at Stellar Heliskiing, those fantasies become a reality. With some of the sweetest pockets of heli-ski tenure in the province, located at the north end of Kootenay Lake near Nelson, BC, longtime local guide Jason Remple takes skiers into hidden, rarely ridden gems in both the Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges. With decades of experience taking people into the backcountry as the lead guide of Selkirk Wilderness Skiing, Jason’s own operation, Stellar Heliskiing has just entered its sixth year taking clients into some of the most pow friendly mountains on earth. And here, as you can see just last Friday, January 6th, I had the good fortune of tagging along for some crystalline deepness. It was, dare I say, as good as those dreams.
